Ohio has almost none that I am aware of and I want to go off road.

We’ve got so many you could never drive them all. And you can travel them, I could go anywhere in the state and only travel paved roads a tiny percentage. Oregon is cool sometimes. And there is a lot of cool stuff way off the beaten path.

Whereabouts in Ohio? I know we have some decent ORV parks in Southeast Michigan.

As a resident of Northeast Ohio: I agree. I also want local rallycross.

South east Ohio. So I would be better served going to WV probably

Must be nice. I would love to visit Oregon one day

It’s a vast space interspersed with towns.

How off-road do you want to go?
Personally I’ve had good luck finding a big green splotch on google maps, locating the ranger station, then driving out there and asking somebody at the office where I can drive on dirt roads. Not sure where you are in OH, but there is a ton of dirt in PA and WV.
Go exploring. That’s the fun part!

It’s awesome living here. I get to travel the state a little for work and it’s always a nice drive, except for between Eugene and Albany. That’s just meh, but eastern Oregon is great for a whole different set of reasons.

Eugene to Albany might be the worst stretch of road ever. But if you don’t get off of 5 much there is some awesome stuff.

We’ve got tens of thousands of miles of gravel roads out here. Great for bombing down at speed, but when they’re just in a mile by mile grid, it gets boring. Not all of them are maintained as well as others, though, which means I’ve regularly driven down open public roads with no warnings posted that most people wouldn’t even imagine their car being capable of driving through. Except it’ll just short, 20-100' sections, maybe a tree across the road, and then a half mile or so of the only obstacles being the windshield-height vegetation between the tire tracks.

Find mining roads, that’s one thing I found when in PA.

Are there no national forests in Ohio? Fireroads make for good light offroading.

That isn’t a bad idea

Just one Wayne National Forest. I have heard of some fire roads down there but it is limited I think.

They usually are pretty poor quality and unpaved.

I took gravel most of the way home last night just for the hell of it, and because I like driving gravel roads. I’m in grid central so they aren’t fun curving scenic gravel roads, just straight square miles, but sometimes it’s better than the highway.

The dead straight rolls can be so soul crushing sometimes. I can see why you would want to go gravel
